Church Project
For 2012
For many years, now, the Church has chosen an Annual Project – some worthy charitable cause which it supports through a series of money-raising events of various kinds.
The Project which Church Meeting has chosen for 2012 is a world-wide charity: 'MAF' – Mission Aviation Fellowship. This remarkable Christian organisation was formed in 1945 by a group of ex-Air-Force pilots who could see that there were many remote parts of the world where it was really only practicable to bring in help to people by air.
MAF operates more than 135 light aircraft (some of which are sea-planes) in over 30 countries, averaging around 280 flights and flying more than 23,000 miles every day – transporting patients, relief teams, medical supplies, Christian workers, Bibles and all kinds of other things to some of the most inaccessible places on earth. They do a really great job!
We'll be hoping to raise lots of money to support them, in the coming year – if you can help in any way (maybe by opening your garden to visitors for a day, in the summer or a coffee morning?) please speak to Beresford or Kate King-Smith, who will be co-ordinating this year's Project. Thank you.
